The Upper Room and Marion Gerrish Community Center partner to start an afterschool teen-life series called “On My Own”

The Upper Room, A Family Resource Center and Marion Gerrish Community Center have created a series with fun ways for teens to learn the skills necessary to live independently. The “On My Own” program started as a conversation between Brenda Guggisberg and Sarah Garvin, Executive Directors of their agencies, and this concept has become a reality which will kick-off on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at The Upper Room.  

The Upper Room recently received a $60,000.00 grant, payable over 3 years, from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.
The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, is excited to share that beginning January 29th, 2020 a Work Ready NH course will begin at The Upper Room on Tsienneto Road.

TUR announces it’s launch of Teen Talk, a teen drop-in time, where students 13 - 18 can engage in teen driven conversation, ideas, sharing and connection.    

              ~ Evolve Program for Teen Women – restarts October 28~
Derry, NH, October 16, 2019 

The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, announces that it will resume offering the Evolve Program, a weekly group designed to provide young women a place to come and talk, learn from one another, be connected with peers in a safe setting. This program offers participants a place to discuss the trends of adolescence, the strategies to help them navigate challenges and lead a life of wellness through discussion, activity and creativity. “We are excited to be able to offer a continuum of options for our young women in a way that promotes their self-worth, and success.” Shares Brenda Guggisberg Executive Director of The Upper Room. “Weekly opportunities to touch base with a skilled facilitator, who brings a host of amazing topic focused and open-ended idea starters will offer attendees a rich experience of connection.”   

Evolve will re-start October 28th, and will run Mondays 3 – 4 PM. Topics will range from sharing feelings, dealing with conflict, finding your inner voice, relationships with friends and family, and many other topics that impact young women today. 

This program is FREE, and open to any young woman 13 – 18. Information and registration for the program can be done by calling Jillian Walulik at 603-437-8477 x 17. 


~ Shielding the Impact of Stress~

Derry, NH, September 19, 2019 

The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, announces a workshop that will focus on the impact of stress and how to prevent the negative side effects that come with it. Join workshop facilitator, Beth O’Connell who will help attendees identify different forms of stress and their responses to them. She will facilitate the group to explore strategies to reduce stress on both the mind and body. Join us September 24, 2019 3:30 – 4:30 PM at The Upper Room 36 Tsienneto Road in Derry. This series is the first workshop of the fall, with more positive health related workshops for young adults to follow.   

To register or for more information call 603-437-8477 x 24. This workshop is FREE of charge and open to the public, with a focus on young adults 18 - 25 years old. Same day, walk in attendees welcome.
