Derry, NH, May 22, 2019

The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, celebrated the gift of time that it’s volunteers offer to the organization. A gathering recognized the 80+ volunteers that support the agency within a year, who in less than 10months have donated 2036 hours of service to the agency. Volunteers in attendance include the Board of Directors, Food Pantry Volunteers, and Juvenile Diversion Community Review, along with individuals who offer support such as Jim Fellows who took on the role of “Santa” once long time board member Jack Briggs passed. The group gathered, shared laughs, and the company of one another which strengthens the agency in it’s work as the teams are cohesive and well organized

Thanks were given by Executive Director, Brenda Guggisberg who shared the way volunteering creates a stronger community. “Thank you for your gift of time, for your expertise, for the love and commitment you bring to our agency, we know that we are one of many non profits that you could support, and we are happy that ours is one you have chosen to give your most valuable resource…your time”. She went on to say that when we are able to leverage these resources, we are then able to use funds for service provision, which is where the funds are needed most.

“We are so fortunate to have a community that provides us with people who care about our work and the mission”, states Guggisberg. “We are very aware of the need to care for our most valuable assets; the people who share of themselves, and those who can support our agency through giving”. Guggisberg added. The Upper Room has a very strong college internship program, and volunteering program. Currently, the organization could benefit from a volunteer who has time on Wednesday mornings to assist with an administrative function for the organization.
