The Upper Room Family Wellness Program offering great support to families locally

Derry, NH, August 6, 2019

The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, is excited with the interest the Connect Program has seen, since it partnered with The Derry Public Library to offer monthly family events for children, parents and grandparents. These theme based events, bring families together at the library to offer, a story, and fun activities for children and their participating adult. Marketing and events Coordinator Shelly Koza facilitates the events as part of the Family Wellness Program for The Upper Room. This initiative is one of the ways that this program supports young families. By providing connections, and partnering with an incredible local resource like the library, families have a comfortable go-to place, with enrichment, and connect to others who are also in the care of young children. By meeting at the library, families are encouraged to access books and resources, all part of preparing children for school readiness. “I really enjoy seeing the smiles of the children, and offering them a fun filled day that makes them happy” shares Shelly Koza. Koza provides this program, and shares resources and support ideas for any family interested.

Connect meets the third Friday of the month at 12:30 at The Derry Public Library. It is Free of charge, and anyone in the region is welcome to attend. The theme in August is “Berries” and kids will learn about these magical summer fruits and will make a treat with local sources. For more information about Connect please call Shelly at 603-437-8477 x 27.

Family Wellness Program is Coordinated by Michelle Moraros, LCMHC, and offers home visiting, parent education and support to families. In addition to the revision of our Connect Program, Family Wellness will launch PARENT LINE in September which will provide a direct line for parenting concerns. Parent Line will be available to call, to seek answers and information about common parenting concerns. Callers can expect a staff member to take a call, and offer solutions or support to parenting questions. To access Parent Line call 603-437-8477 x 26. These initiatives are supported through the Alexander Eastman Foundation and Seacoast United Way.
