Announcing new support for applying for SNAP
New community resource available at The Upper Room: assistance with SNAP applications. Starting in August and continuing on the 4th Monday of each month from 10am-1pm, representatives from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as food stamps) will be stationed at The Upper Room to help people fill out the application paperwork to get help with groceries.
INFORMATION FROM PINKERTON ABOUT SAT and ACT TEST PREP:
There are various ways to practice for the SAT or ACT. The least expensive way would be to take advantage of the free test prep that is being offered by Khan Academy. Pinkerton students can access the Khan Academy site through the Pinkerton website or through the Collegeboard.org website.

New Executive Director will focus renewed energy on The Upper Room’s mission to serve families
Derry, NH, August 18, 2016
The Board of Directors of The Upper Room is pleased to announce Brenda Guggisberg, who has served as the interim Executive Director for the past several months, has been appointed as the organization’s Executive Director. Ms. Guggisberg will be only the third Executive Director to serve at the Upper Room during its 30 year history, and her fifteen year tenure with the organization makes her an ideal candidate to lead us into the future.
The appointment of Ms. Guggisberg was announced at The Upper Room’s 30th Anniversary Celebration held on August 10, 2016. Board Chair Jacob Wiesmann stated; “We are excited that we were able to find such a well qualified candidate to serve as our Executive Director who is familiar with our mission, vision and commitment to supporting the needs of the community.” Ms. Guggisberg has spent over 19 years in various leadership roles in the public service and education sector, including 15 years as a senior staff member here at The Upper Room.
Together with our strong staff, the Board is unequivocally confident Ms. Guggisberg will continue the work that has shaped The Upper Room into the premier family resource center in southern New Hampshire.

Celebrating 30 Years at The Upper Room!
A few summer raindrops were no damper on the sunny smiles of friends and supporters at the Ice Cream Social celebrating The Upper Room’s 30th anniversary. Families enjoyed face painting and glittery temporary tattoos from WellSense, popcorn from Life Is Good, ice cream from Moo’s dished out by our friends at Nora Systems, and a visit from Snoopy! Guests played the parachute game and hula hoops all afternoon.

The Upper Room staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers share in the joy with graduates and their families, as 41 students graduated today!!! We are so happy for thier accomplishments. They are working, off to college in the fall, and one of our young men is entering the NAVY as a Navy SEAL! Congrats to the graduates and their families!
