The Upper Room has an exceptional group of community leaders that make up its Board of Directors. From all walks of life, businesses and levels of involvement, our Board actively participates at the Upper Room in areas of financial management and fundraising, to legal matters, marketing communications and agency expansion. The Board's annual Family Matters Auction is the major annual fundraiser providing much needed dollars towards The Upper Room's administration and miscellaneous program funding.

If you are interested in becoming a member of The Upper Room board the process would include a meeting with the Executive Director and our Board Chair at The Upper Room. In this initial meeting we can both learn about each other and see if our organization would be a good fit for your interests. At that time you will be given a Board application and additional information for you to review. Next, you are invited to attend and observe an actual Board meeting. After this, if it is determined that Board membership is a good fit for both parties; you will be presented to the Board for an official vote of acceptance.

As a community organization, individuals who donate their time, whether a few hours per month or several hours per week are at the heart of our agency.

Safety is of the utmost concern and priority at The Upper Room. We truly value volunteers at The Upper Room and as part of our security measures, an application/Information packet must be completed for all interns, volunteers and community service workers. Regular volunteers and interns must be 18 years of age and complete a criminal background check. There is a cost for security/background checks. We welcome your offer to volunteer and appreciate a contribution of $15 to cover the cost of this background check in order to keep our children safe.

A ll individuals interested in volunteering or interning for the agency are required to attend an orientation session.   Attendance to this orientation is required prior to beginning a volunteer position or internship.  If you are interested in volunteering for The Upper Room, please contact Diane 437-8477 x 14.
