The Upper Room, A Family Resource Center, has provided educational services to strengthen individuals and families throughout Southern NH and Northern Massachusetts since 1986. From the beginning, UR programming has grown and developed along with the changing needs of families in the community. A team of dedicated professionals, both full and part time, are actively working to improve the family life of the citizens of Derry and surrounding communities in a way that is unique to any other place in New Hampshire. There are no barriers to our programs, income guidelines or geographic lines to prevent participation. The Upper Room is here to help families, all families in need of educational support and resources to "make it" in today's world.
Currently, The Upper Room offers the Greater Derry Juvenile Diversion Program (GDJDP), Challenge (drug and alcohol education), Anger Management, Y.E.S. (shoplifters alternative education) program, Greater Derry Family Outreach (an education/counseling home visitation program), Teen Information for Parenting Success (TIPS - support/education for pregnant and parenting teens), GED preparation program (in cooperation with Pinkertong Academy's PACE program), Families on the Go (FOG - support group and family outings for parents with young children), and Parenting Workshops. Recognized statewide as an innovative family resource center, in 2003 The Upper Room assisted 6,311 people, utilized 90
volunteers totaling more than 3284 hours of support and provides more than 1,172 community service hours in the greater Derry area.
